GMSI Special Workshop

2009.10.26

Engineering Bldg. 2, 9F Presentation Room

Prof. Junichi Kobayashi

Akita Prefectural University

Topic: “Why a super collaborative graduate school is necessary”

Overview
Those who earn a PhD may well be suited for a career as a researcher in academia, however we are facing a serious problem in this country regarding the development of the next generation of leaders in industry. To resolve this problem, The University of Electro-Communications was the first of 14 public universities, corporations, and municipalities to come together on equal footing to consider a new PhD training and development initiative that truly addresses the needs of society.
At this workshop, we have invited Professor Jun’ichi Kobayashi (Akita Prefectural University) to give a brief synopsis of this initiative and his participation. Additionally, human resources development activities of the GMSI program will be introduced, followed by a panel discussion including attending faculty members. This workshop is not exclusive to GMSI members, and people from other GCOE programs, other departments, as well as industry are all welcome to attend.
