About the secondary advisor system
2010.06.24
Global COE for Mechanical Systems Innovation Secretariat
One of the aims of this GCOE program is to help PhD students develop breadth as well as depth. With this in mind, we have implemented a "secondary advisor system", which gives GMSI RAs the opportunity to obtain guidance and direction from a related faculty member in addition to their current advisor.
There are many faculty who are participating in this secondary advisor system, including the 24 GMSI program members and 24 associated faculty members. This announcement is not only for informational purposes, but also with the hope that GMSI RAs will take full advantage of this opportunity.
【Intended timeframe】
This system is intended for graduate students in the first and second years of the PhD program, and will begin from the summer term of 2010. In principle the time period is one semester (6 months) and RAs can participate for two semesters. With the consent of both primary and secondary advisors, it is possible for one to can have the same secondary advisor for both terms.
【Assignment】
RAs should indicate their top three choices for secondary advisor in the linked file "GMSI副指導教員制度_志願表.xls" (participation form), and submit this to the GMSI office. Please see the linked file "2010年GMSI副指導教員一覧100618.pdf" for a list of the participating faculty. RAs will be notified of their assigned secondary advisor by the GMSI office.
